The Kaduna State Security Council has issued a stern warning against the blockade of public roads and the harassment of residents by protesters. Samuel Aruwan, the overseeing commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, conveyed this message in a statement released on Thursday in Kaduna.

The warning came in response to a recent incident where protesters blocked the Gonin Gora axis of the Kaduna-Abuja road following reports of a bandit attack in the Unguwan Auta area of Gonin Gora, Chikun LGA. This action disrupted commuter traffic along the route.

Members of the Kaduna State Security Council, including the Police Commissioner Audu Ali, Director of the State Security Service Abdul Eneche, and Garrison Commander of 1 Division, Nigerian Army Brig-Gen. Muhammad Kana, swiftly intervened with security forces to dismantle the roadblocks and restore access for motorists.

In the statement, Mr. Aruwan emphasized the dissatisfaction of the security council with the practice of blocking roads, which infringes on the rights of citizens and travelers. The council stressed that such actions disrupt public utilities and inconvenience the general populace.

As of the latest security update, normal traffic flow has been restored along the Gonin Gora axis of the Kaduna-Abuja Road, with citizens and motorists able to traverse the route without obstruction.

The Kaduna State Government urges protesters to express their grievances through lawful means and refrain from actions that disrupt public order and safety.
