Kaduna ADC chairman dismisses suspension rumour, calls it desperate smear attempt

    Published on

The Chairman of the Kaduna State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Elder Patrick Ambut, has dismissed reports of his suspension from the party, describing them as baseless rumours aimed at embarrassing the ADC in the state and beyond.

In a statement he personally signed on Tuesday and made available to newsmen in Kaduna, Ambut said the purported suspension neither originated from the party nor followed due process and should therefore be ignored.

“I remain the authentic chairman of the party in the state,” Ambut declared.

His reaction followed reports circulating on social media alleging his suspension from office.

Ambut described the letter in circulation as “laughable” and “not authentic,” insisting it was the handiwork of political enemies bent on destabilising the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said: “Looking at the so-called suspension letter that emanated from these elements, it is obvious that the document lacks substance. What could lead to my suspension was not even clearly stated. This is just politics — a desperate attempt to create disunity and crisis among the State Working Committee and members of our great party.

“ADC remains strong and united. Such attempts by the ruling political party and a few internal saboteurs to sow division and crisis will not succeed.”

Ambut urged the public to disregard the news as fake and called on party members and supporters across Kaduna State and beyond not to take the purported suspension seriously.

In his reaction, the State Secretary of the party, Oluwatuyi Victor Olayinka, accused the Deputy Chairman, Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, and a few others of holding illegal meetings, falsifying documents, and engaging in unauthorized communication with external agencies.

According to Olayinka, the group’s activities are under investigation, as they have been identified as agents of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) working to cripple the ADC in Kaduna.

“The illegal suspension is a gross violation of the ADC Constitution and contrary to established party procedures,” he said. “The Deputy Chairman acted without due process, as he lacks the constitutional authority to convene any meeting or issue such directives.”

Olayinka explained that only the State Chairman has the power to convene meetings through the State Secretary, both of whom were duly elected by the party’s congress and remain its legitimate officers in Kaduna.

“The Deputy Chairman’s actions are unauthorized, null, and void. They are a desperate attempt to usurp power and destabilize the party as we prepare for upcoming elections,” he said.

He added that the Deputy Chairman is also under investigation for gross misconduct, abuse of office, impersonation, and acts capable of causing disunity.

“The leadership of ADC Kaduna State remains committed to peace, discipline, and the rule of law as enshrined in our party’s constitution. We therefore urge all members and the general public to disregard the purported suspension notice and continue with their legitimate party activities,” he stated.
