Madu Onuorah, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Global-upfront Newspaper (Online), was apprehended by Nigerian Police Force operatives at his home in Lugbe, Abuja. The incident, witnessed by Onuorah’s family, saw his phones confiscated, cutting off communication. Onuorah, denied contact with his lawyer or relatives, was taken to Lugbe police station by unidentified officers. Globalupfront Newspapers demand his immediate release, asserting his lawful conduct. This follows the recent release of FIJ journalist Daniel Ojukwu after nine days in police custody, highlighting ongoing concerns over press freedom in Nigeria.
