The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended Ilyasu Munkaila, a 45-year-old resident of Asayaya village, Kiyawa Local Government Area, in connection with multiple crimes including fraud, motorbike theft, and animal rustling. The arrest took place on August 28, 2024, as part of separate operations conducted by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

DSP Lawan Adam, the command’s spokesman, announced the arrest during a press briefing in Dutse, the state capital, on Monday. Munkaila was taken into custody following a report filed by Alhaji Sani Muhammad, a 50-year-old resident of Kano State. Muhammad alleged that he was defrauded at Nafara village, Birnin Kudu, on July 29, 2024.

During interrogation, Munkaila confessed to his involvement in the fraud and disclosed that he received N50,000 as his share of the scheme’s proceeds. Additionally, the police recovered two motorbikes, two sheep, and a ram from the suspects.

The Jigawa State Police Command has assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend other individuals involved in these criminal activities. The command reiterated its commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety throughout the state.
