In adherence to the recent resolution of the House of Representatives, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed next week monday 6th August 2022 as date for the mop up examination for candidates that were unable to sit for the May 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination ( UTME).

In this regard, it has advised the affected candidates to print their examination slips from the Jamb portal

The board also warned heads of tertiary institutions against conducting illegal admissions stating that it would no longer condone underhand admissions by tertiary institutions.

These were contained in the Board’s weekly bulletin released by its Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin in Abuja.on Monday

The board warned that candidates who accept any admission not approved on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) would have themselves to blame while heads of institutions who flout the directive issued by Education Minister Adamu Adamu at the 2022 policy meeting in Abuja would be sanctioned.

According to JAMB, the era of candidates accepting illegal admissions and then mounting pressure on the board to condone same was over.

The board said such candidates would also be treated as accomplices to the criminal act.

“For the avoidance of doubt, all admissions to Nigeria’s tertiary institutions must be done through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

“Therefore, no candidate is deemed admitted until he/she has printed such an offer of admission from the CAPS platform,” JAMB said.

Furthermore, the board advised heads of tertiary institutions and other critical stakeholders in the Education sector to strictly adhere to the policy guidelines from the 2022 policy meeting.

“It is out of the expectations of the cardinal and pivotal roles that a world-class education system should play in our quest for national development that the JAMB is impressing it on all tertiary institutions in Nigeria to ensure that these guidelines are religiously adhered to.

“To underscore the seriousness with which the government sees education, Mallam Adamu frowned at the effrontery of some tertiary institutions that go against the ministry’s directives on admissions and wondered how the nation would be expected to grow when those at the helms of affairs of its critical sectors do not comply with rules and regulations.
“He explained that conducting their admissions according to the rules would make for fairness and transparency, adding that he would no longer mediate between them and JAMB for condoning their underhand and undisclosed admissions.

“Furthermore, the Hon. Minister stated unequivocally that non-compliance with this year’s policy directives on admissions would birth negative consequences for infractors.

“It is on this note that JAMB is appealing to all to leave no stone unturned in their collective efforts to reposition the Education sector for greater glory,” the board’s statement said.

On the conduct of the mop-up examination, the board said it was for those who genuinely were at their various centres during the last examination but could not sit the examination.

“To check eligibility, the board has directed all such candidates to print their mop-up notification slips from Monday, August 1, 2022, ahead of the exercise.

“The 2022 mop-up notification slip is available for printing by candidates who have been rescheduled to sit the examination on Saturday, August 6, 2022.

“The printing of the mop-up notification slip is compulsory for all mop-up candidates, as it enables them to know the venue, date, session and time of their examination.

“Affected candidates are advised to print the slips on time to know the location of their examination centres and the time of the examination beforehand.

“This would also guide them in making necessary arrangements ahead of the exercise as the Board frowns at lateness to its examination, as no excuses would be entertained from any candidates, especially as it is a mop-up exercise.

“Candidates need not visit any CBT centre for the printing of the mop-up notification slip as it can be done at any available internet point, be it private or public. To print the slip, candidates are to visit https://www.jamb.gov.ng then click on 2022 mop-up slip printing then insert registration number to print.

The slip contains the candidates’ important details like registration number, the centre to which they are to sit the examination within their chosen examination town and the expected time to be at the centre.

“It should be noted that candidates who, for whatever reasons, were absent at those centres are NOT eligible for the mop-up examination and so need not attempt to print as there won’t be any to print.

“As expected in the board’s examination, all candidates would be checked into the examination hall using the Biometric Verification Machine (BVM) which is also a register of attendance, in line with the board’s policy of ‘no biometric verification, no examination’.

“Candidates are advised to prepare ahead and stay close to their examination venues; if possible, they should pay a prior visit to their centres before the date of the examination. Candidates are also reminded that the ban on prohibited items is still in force.

“Therefore, candidates should be careful not to run foul of the law as necessary sanctions would be meted out to violators of its code of conduct.
