Insecurity: Kaduna police outlaws use of fireworks, knockouts

The Kaduna State Police Command has announced an immediate ban on the use of knockouts and fireworks across the state, citing growing concerns over public safety and security.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mansir Hassan, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the command warned that the use of such explosive items, particularly during festive celebrations, has increasingly been exploited by criminal elements to cause panic, disrupt public order, and perpetrate crimes.

“The use of knockouts and fireworks is strictly prohibited. Credible intelligence reveals that some miscreants have already begun setting off knockouts in parts of the state, creating unnecessary tension and fear within communities,” the statement read.

The command urged residents to celebrate responsibly and cooperate with security agencies to maintain peace and order during the festive season. It further warned that any individual found violating the ban would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The police reassured the public of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and appealed for continued vigilance and timely reporting of suspicious activities.
