The Imo state Police Commissioner, CP Danjuma Aboki, has taken swift action in response to allegations of assault on a nursing mother, identified as Ogechi Eze, by ordering the immediate arrest, detention, and investigation of officers suspected to be involved.

This directive was disclosed by the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Henry Okoye, during a briefing with journalists in Owerri.

According to the police command, the incident came to light through a video circulating on social media where Mrs. Ogechi Eze claimed that she and her children were assaulted by operatives of the Command’s Anti-kidnapping unit, known as Tiger Base.

In response, the Imo State Police Command initiated a comprehensive investigation to establish the facts surrounding the case. CP Aboki Danjuma promptly ordered the arrest and detention of the accused officers, tasking the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Command’s X-Squad and Provost to ensure that appropriate disciplinary actions are taken if the officers are found guilty.

The Command has urged Mrs. Ogechi to come forward to the Police Public Relations Department at Command Headquarters, Owerri, to assist in identifying the officers as part of the ongoing investigation.

CP Aboki Danjuma emphasized that under his leadership, the Command will not tolerate any form of unprofessional behavior, including arrest by proxy, assault, or incivility towards members of the public by its personnel. He pledged to uphold the fundamental human rights of citizens, whom the police are constitutionally mandated to serve and protect.

The Police assured the public that further updates on the case will be provided as the investigation progresses.
