The Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has said that his administration is committed to addressing the developmental needs of different communities in the state.
Oborevwori gave the assurance on Tuesday while presenting the Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Patrick Okpomor Agree 1, the Ovie of Igbide Kingdom, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Oborevwori, who was represented by his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, said that the government will explore sustainable solutions, including palliative measures and infrastructure development to alleviate the impact of flooding and enhance the quality of life for citizens in the various flood-prone areas of the state.
He observed that the recurrent flooding and erosion ravaging coastal communities have devastated farmlands, homes and livelihoods in Igbide Kingdom and other communities in the state.
He added that the annual loss of harvests and the submersion of properties by water is heart-rending.
Oborevwori congratulated HRM Agre I, the Ovie of Igbide kingdom on his ascension to the throne of his forefathers and urged him to bring his wealth of knowledge and global exposure to the noble stool.
“Your Royal Majesty, your experience as an ex-banker and a consultant on global security, particularly in the challenging North-East of Nigeria, underscore your capacity to navigate complex issues with wisdom and foresight; I am confident that your vision to restore peace, unity and development in Igbide Kingdom, will inspire transformative progress,” the Governor said.
The Governor called on the Igbide Traditional Council, Chiefs, Ogbedios, Iletus, women, youths, and the entire community to rally round the new royal father.
“Leadership thrives on collective support and your cooperation is vital to achieving the shared aspirations of this kingdom. To those who contested for the throne, let us put aside differences and work together to build a greater Igbide Kingdom,” he said.
