Ijaw women group, Ijaw Women Connect (IWC)-Worldwide on Wednesday condoled with President Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian Army and families of 16 soldiers slain while on peacekeeoing mission at Okuama community in Delta.

    Mrs. Rosemary John-Oduone,
Founder, IWC-Worldwide who reacted in an interview in Yenagoa noted that the gruesome murder of the military men was despicable and condemnable.

“I join the Mr President, His Excellency Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Commander -In-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Chief of Army Staff, the Governor of Delta State, leaders at various levels, the families of the slain soldiers and all well meaning Nigerians to commiserate and mourn the victims of the attack.

“The killing of our gallant soldiers in such a despicable manner in Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta state is unacceptable.

“It is insensitive to kill men of the military providing security for our dear nation in such a barbaric and gruesome manner. I condemn in totality this dastardly act of violently taking the lives of our gallant soldiers who had gone to Okuama community on a peace mission,” she said.

John-Oduone observed that coming at a time the Niger Delta region was enjoying relative peace, the perpetrators of the heinous crime should be made to face the full wrath of the law.

The Ijaw women leader demanded that justice must be served because no one deserves to die in the hands of those they protect.

“I pray for the repose of the souls of our gallant soldiers who paid the supreme price for nationhood to rest in perfect peace,” John-Oduone said.
