IBB disclosure: N100 trillion in compensation is demanded by Ohanaeze affiliate organization

    Published on

Because of the injustices that the Igbo people have endured since 1966, the Njiko Igbo Forum, an offshoot of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has requested N100 trillion from the Nigerian government.

The organization made the demand in the wake of General Ibrahim Babangida (Rtd), the former military ruler of state, revealing that the 1966 coup was not an Igbo coup as long believed.

This was said by IBB in his recently published book, “A Journey in Service.”

The Njiko Igbo Forum’s president, Rev. Dr. Okechukwu Christopher Obioha, issued a statement on Monday urging South-East National Assembly members to submit a bill to the National Assembly calling for sufficient Ndigbo compensation.

He said that this was restitution for the millions of people slain during the civil war, the rejection, the hatred, the marginalization, the pogrom/genocide, the economic losses brought on by the destruction of enterprises, properties, and other assets, as well as the false narrative that was spread.

He asserts that it is now abundantly evident that the commanders and leaders of the January 1966 coup, also referred to as the “Igbo coup,” were Adewale Ademoyega of Yoruba, Kaduna Nzeogwu of Delta, Capt. G. Adeleke of Yoruba, Lt. Fola Oyewole of Yoruba, Emmanuel Ifeajuna of Igbo, Lt. Tijani Katsina of Hausa, Capt. Gibson Jalo of the Niger Delta, and Lt. O. Olafemiyan of Yoruba.

More information has come to light, demonstrating that the true goal of the coup was to release Chief Obafemi Awolowo from prison and place him as prime minister of Nigeria.

Some people who were actively involved or had firsthand knowledge of the coup’s preparations have verified it.

To put it another way, Awolowo would have been freed and became prime minister if the coup had proceeded according to plan.

With the help of unquestionable evidence and testimonies, Okechukwu declared that Nigeria must “apologise to the Igbo and try to assuage them by paying them compensation which could not be equated with millions of lives lost and killed during the war and their subjugation for 55 years – from 15th January, 1970 (when the war is said to have ended) and February, 2025.”

Additionally, the organization called on Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, to open up on the 2023 general election.

“When Peter Obi is gone, we don’t want another memoir written by someone like Chief MKO Abiola, who was confirmed today as the 1993 presidential winner, or perhaps Prof. Mahmoud, the INEC Chairman, or President Tinubu.”

“Prof. Mahmood ought to confess and repent; Peter Obi won the 2023 presidential election.”

“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu should be released immediately and without conditions since he became agitated due to the civil conflict and its impact on the Igbo.

“For the past 55 long years, the Igbo, a significant player in the endeavor known as Nigeria, have been treated with shame and reckless disregard.

“Nigeria has to change its attitude toward them by acknowledging their importance to this wonderful country, Nigeria, giving them a sense of belonging and right to exist,” he further demanded.
