Uchenna Kanu, the Super Falcons forward, recently shared a personal revelation about her past, disclosing that she used to sell sachet water (commonly referred to as “pure water” locally) and oranges on the streets of Aba, Abia State.

In a video posted on her Tiktok page, the 26-year-old Racing Louisville striker revealed that she used to engage in street vending alongside her brother, who sold soda drinks.

She fondly recalled, “When I was younger, I used to sell oranges. I would peel the oranges, place them in a tray, balance it on my head, and walk around the streets of Aba, selling them.”

Furthermore, she disclosed, “I also sold water—pure water and ice water. Additionally, I would accompany my brother, who sold popular soda brands like Coca-Cola, Fanta, and Pepsi. Sometimes, while we were both hawking in the market, we would unexpectedly cross paths, and we would greet each other with a friendly ‘Hey!’ We’d share a laugh before going our separate ways.”

Kanu rose to prominence after representing Nigeria in the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. She later made her debut with the Super Falcons in 2019.
