‘I cried, Jesus, where are you?’ — Judikay opens up on sixth miscarriage

Nigerian gospel artiste Judikay has opened up about suffering six miscarriages, revealing that the most recent occurred in February 2025.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, the singer spoke candidly about the physical pain and emotional trauma she faced following the loss, which happened after she had crossed the three-month stage of pregnancy.

Narrating her experience, she explained how what initially felt like mild discomfort soon turned into a heartbreaking situation.

“In February 2025, I experienced a pain that almost crushed me. I was pregnant for well over three months. One of these days, I was going about my day when I started to experience cramps,” she said.

“I said, ‘Oh, okay, it was one of those things.’ And then trickles of blood, and I said, ‘Oh, spotting’. If you are a woman who has been pregnant before, you will know what spotting refers to.

“And then I had the urge to use the washroom. And what I thought should be urine was blood. It did not stop. It kept flowing. And I was devastated because I understood what that meant automatically.

“This baby that I lost, that has gone past three months, mark the sixth one.”

She disclosed that she was taken to the hospital, where doctors carried out a dilation and curettage (D&C) procedure following what was diagnosed as a missed miscarriage.

Reflecting on the aftermath, Judikay said she initially tried to stay strong but later struggled with deep grief, especially at night.

“I was rushed to the hospital, and they did a D&C on me because it was a missed miscarriage,” she added.

“And when I returned home, I thought I was okay. I had cried and shouted whilst they broke the baby and brought the pieces.

“Everyone would ask, and I would say God gets the glory.

“But then in the silence of the night, I would experience a pain that I could not express. I would wail and cry and say, ‘Jesus, where are you?”

Known for popular worship songs like “More Than Gold” and “Songs of Angel: Ndimozi Binigwe,” Judikay got married to Anselem Opara in 2020, and the couple welcomed their first child in 2022.
