‘He would’ve been a hero’ – Iwobi sends message to Morocco’s Brahim Diaz

Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi has sent a message of consolation to Morocco’s Brahim Diaz.

This comes after Diaz missed a penalty for Morocco against Senegal during the AFCON final on Sunday.

Iwobi pointed out that the Real Madrid winger could have been hailed a national hero had he converted his penalty against the Teranga Lions.

In his AFCON Diaries series, the Fulham player said, “A shoutout to Brahim Diaz. He will be going through a lot.

“I mean, to take the penalty the way he did, if he scored, he would have been a hero; it is just the fact that he did not.

“Please, it is football, allow him, but my message to Diaz is what is done is done. He had a good tournament. Do your thing in your club.”

Notably, Diaz also secured the AFCON Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer.
