    Gateway Games: Oborevwori fulfils cash gift promise to team Delta

    The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has fulfilled his pledge to reward excellence by presenting cash awards to athletes and officials of Team Delta for their outstanding performance at the recently concluded Gateway Games 2025.

    Those who won Gold Medals got One Million Naira each while those who came home with Silver Medals got One got 500,000 Naira each and Bronze Medal smiled home with 250,000 Naira each,

    Team Delta reaffirmed its dominance in Nigerian sports by emerging overall champions of the Games with a commanding haul of 126 gold, 100 silver, and 111 bronze medals — a total of 332 medals. Their remarkable achievement reflected not only talent but also discipline, hard work, and resilience.

    Governor Oborevwori, in his congratulatory message, praised the athletes and officials for once again bringing pride to the state, stressing that their victory has further cemented Delta’s position as Nigeria’s undisputed sporting powerhouse. He recalled that Delta has maintained a record-breaking dominance in the National Sports Festival, winning the competition seven times consecutively — a feat unmatched in the country’s sporting history.

    The acting Director General, Muobo Egalase in a chat said Governor Oborevwori gesture was not only a recognition of past achievements but also a motivation for future competitions. He further assured that the administration of the Sports loving Governor remains fully committed to the welfare of sportsmen and women while sustaining Delta’s leading role in sports development across Nigeria.
