    FCTA reaffirms commitment to education, hails MTN’s gadgets donation

    FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has reiterated the administration’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for teaching and learning in public schools.

    She made the remark during the official handover of 600 learning tablets donated by MTN Nigeria to 12 government secondary schools in the FCT.

    Represented by her Special Assistant on Technical Matters, Tpl. Michael Bawa, the Minister described the donation as a timely and impactful investment in the digital future of Nigerian students.

    She said the gesture came at a critical time, as the administration works to digitize learning and enhance students’ readiness for a technology-driven world.

    Mahmoud commended MTN’s dedication to corporate social responsibility and support for digital inclusion, aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on education and innovation.

    She urged students to make good use of the devices and encouraged teachers to integrate digital tools into their teaching methods.

    In his remarks, MTN Board Chairman, Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, said the company is committed to bridging the digital divide and giving every child a chance at a connected life.

    “MTN believes that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected life,” Ndukwe said.

    According to him, 4,600 tablets are being distributed nationwide as part of MTN’s digital education initiative.

    Also speaking, Mandate Secretary of the FCT Education Secretariat, Dr. Danlami Hayyo (represented by Dr. Kolawole Olabashola, Director of Science and Technology), praised MTN for helping to position Nigerian schools to compete globally.

    The 12 beneficiary schools include: Government Day Secondary School, Dutse-Alhaji; Government Secondary School, Mpape; Government Girls Secondary School, Dukpa; Government Secondary School, Gwagwalada; Government Science Secondary School, Tunga-Maje; Government Secondary School, Pegi (Abuja @30); Government Secondary School, Kwali; Government Secondary School, Airport; Government Secondary School, Garki; Government Secondary School, Gosa; Government Secondary School, Gwarinpa and Government Day Secondary School, Wuse II.
