Sarkin Gobir Hails Shema’s Appointment as FCDA Chairman, Predicts Transformation in FCT
The Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir, has lauded the appointment of former Katsina State Governor, Dr. Ibrahim Shehu Shema, as Chairman of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), calling it a strategic move that will usher in transformative leadership in Nigeria’s capital.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Gobir—who also holds the traditional title of Wazirin Kasar Hausa—commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as “a fitting recognition” of Shema’s dedication to public service and his proven administrative capabilities.
“This appointment is a commendable step by Mr. President,” Gobir said, emphasizing that the decision reflects the administration’s principle of placing the right people in the right roles.
Gobir expressed confidence that Shema’s leadership experience, particularly as a two-term governor of Katsina State, along with his grassroots involvement and traditional influence, makes him well-suited to lead the FCDA at a critical time in the development of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He described the FCDA as a vital institution in Nigeria’s infrastructure and urban development, noting that Shema’s “visionary outlook and administrative expertise” will contribute significantly to the progress of Abuja and the nation at large.
The endorsement adds to the growing anticipation surrounding Shema’s tenure, as stakeholders look forward to renewed focus on infrastructure, urban planning, and improved governance in the FCT.
