Chief Olusegun Osoba, former Governor of Ogun State, has declared that Bola Tinubu was divinely chosen to be Nigeria’s first progressive president.
Osoba addressed claims that M.K.O Abiola’s portrait should have been unveiled during the Democracy Day event on June 12 instead of Tinubu’s.
“I think you will recall that the same Lagos State Government in which President Bola Tinubu is fully involved, has created a giant portrait of M.K.O Abiola at the Ikeja interchange and established a garden where major political rallies will be held,” Osoba said.
He added, “M.K.O Abiola was the first to be honored with a giant statue. Considering that President Tinubu is the first-ever progressive politician to be elected as president of this country, it symbolizes that he was chosen by God to be president. If you look at his emergence, he was not supposed to be president. The party and a substantial part of the then government were not on his side. Obstacles were placed before him. Midway through the announcement of the result, an attempt was made to abort the continuation of the result, similar to Abiola’s case. You will recall that President Obasanjo issued a strong statement to President Buhari to stop the announcement of the collation of the results.”
Osoba emphasized that Tinubu’s rise to the presidency was not by his own doing but by divine intervention, reflecting the challenges he overcame to become the first progressive president of Nigeria.
Commending the media for their role in the country, the veteran journalist condemned the recent harassment and abduction of journalists by security agencies. He also lamented the current state of journalism, criticizing untrained bloggers for often publishing misleading information and urged trained journalists to adhere to professional codes of conduct
