Former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and a Constitutional Law Professor, Rt. Hon. Ali Ahmad, has condoled with the Muslim community over the passing of an Ilorin-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abdulwahab Abdul-Hayy.
The late Sheikh Abdulwahab Abdul-Hayy was a renowned Hafiz (a memorizer of complete chapters of the Holy Qur’an) with Tafsir and Tajweed, and until his death was renowned as a teacher of Qur’an recitation, memorization, and moral values.
He was also known for his strict disciplinary approach towards moulding recalcitrant children into coping with the realities of life.
In a condolence statement signed by Steve Makinde, Spokesperson for his media office, Professor Ali described the late Sheikh Abdulwahab Abdul-Hayy as an epitome of knowledge, righteousness, and someone who was substantial in Allah’s course.
He also said that the passing of the late scholar was a significant loss not only to the Muslim community but also to humanity.
Professor Ali recalled the several interventions of the late renowned scholar, noting that his contributions to the development of Qur’anic education and propagation of Islam would be greatly missed.
He prayed Allah to accept his return, forgive his misdeeds, and grant Shaikh Abdulwahab Abdul-Hayy the highest rank in Aljanatil-Fridaus.
