Europe boring, no place like Nigeria — Boniface

    Published on

Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface has expressed his deep attachment to Nigeria, saying that despite his thriving career in Europe, he always looks forward to returning home.

Speaking on a podcast alongside fellow football stars Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka, and hosted by media personality VJ Adams, Boniface was asked where he would go if given a “blank cheque” to join any club. While Madrid was initially mentioned, the Bayer Leverkusen forward quickly leaned towards staying in Lagos, even joking about playing for MFM Football Club.

“For me, no place like home,” Boniface said. “I like coming back home. It’s not like I forget home. When I’m there [in Europe], I come and go back, but I don’t stay too long. I miss everything about home, the food, the lifestyle, family, friends.”

He admitted that Europe, despite its opportunities, can feel “boring” compared to the vibrance of Nigeria. The striker noted that the cultural connection, warmth, and familiar environment make Lagos special for him.

His comments drew laughter from the group as they teased him about what a “blank cheque” could mean for his career. But Boniface insisted that even limitless options wouldn’t take away his love for home.
