As the curtain falls on the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State, Enugu has stepped into the spotlight with a bold pledge: 2026 will be bigger, better, and unforgettable.

Enugu State’s Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Love Ikechukwu Ekeremadu, made the declaration at a press briefing in Abeokuta, commending Ogun for raising the bar but promising to raise it even higher.

“We applaud Ogun for a remarkable outing, but Enugu will do better,” Ekeremadu said confidently. “We’ll provide a proper Games Village, improved transportation, and top-tier media facilities right inside the stadium.”

He highlighted Enugu’s natural charm and rich cultural heritage: “We’ve got waterfalls, pyramids, serene forests, and a deep historical tapestry. The athletes and media won’t just compete, they’ll experience Enugu.”

Ekeremadu also emphasized security as a top priority: “There’s no sit-at-home in Enugu anymore. MASSOB activities have been curtailed. We recently hosted an international marathon without incident. Enugu is safe, period.”

Promising a grand opening ceremony and unparalleled hospitality, the Commissioner said, “We’re more than ready. Our governor is a man of excellence with a deep passion for sports. Come 2026, we’ll make history.”
