    Eid -el Fitr: NSCDC Deploys 1045 in Anambra, Assures Maximum Security

    Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command has deployed a total of 1,045 officers and men ahead of the Eid -el Fitr celebrations for maintenance of law and order, surveillance and protection of Critical National, State and Local Government Assets and Infrastructure.

    Commandant Maku Olatunde stated this in an operational order issued by the command directing all Heads of Departments, ( HODs) Heads of Units (HOUs), Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Heads of Formations, Composite Commanders and Heads of Tactical Squads to mobilise operational assets and beef up security within their areas of responsibility before, during and after the celebration.

    Maku, in a statement by Head of Media and Tactical Ops, SC Okadigbo Edwin in Awka on Friday said the round the clock surveillance has been put in place in some identified black spots, threat – prone areas, flashpoints and other vulnerable criminal spots towards ensuring a seamless and peaceful Sallah celebration.

    “Personnel drawn from other specialised units, including the Armed Squad , Female Strike Force, Rapid Tactical Squad, Anti- Vandalism Squad, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosives (CBRNE), Counter-Terrorism Unit and Disaster Management Unit are to dominate the public space, Eid grounds, social and recreational centers, critical national infrastructure, amusement parks, and other strategic public places to build confidence amongst the citizens and fun seekers,” he said.

    The NSCDC State helmsman emphasised that deployed personnel must conduct themselves in a civil and professional manner, respecting the fundamental human rights of citizens while performing their duties with utmost decorum and vigilance.

    “Additionally, residents are urged to remain vigilant, keep a close eye on their children, cooperate with the NSCDC and other security agencies and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest NSCDC office or other security agencies.

    “The State Commandant extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful nationwide on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, while reaffirming the command’s commitment to collaborate with other security agencies to prevent criminal activities before, during, and after the celebrations,” he added.
