The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has initiated investigations into 50 bank accounts as part of its efforts in the case involving the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu. These investigations have resulted in the recovery of N30 billion, which has been transferred to the Federal Government’s treasury.

The EFCC, under the leadership of Chairman Ola Olukoyede, released a bulletin titled “EFCC Alert,” outlining recent arrests, prosecutions, and financial recoveries. According to the bulletin, the recovered funds have been successfully returned to the government.

Olukoyede emphasized the meticulous process involved in such investigations, stating that it takes time to conclude them properly. He assured the public of the professionalism of the EFCC’s investigative team and urged patience while they follow leads and uncover relevant information.

The commission also disclosed that it is concurrently handling numerous other cases, highlighting the scale and complexity of its ongoing anti-corruption efforts. Olukoyede reiterated the need for collaboration among all stakeholders, including the judiciary and legislative branches, in combating corruption effectively.

In a call to action, Olukoyede urged Nigerians to actively participate in the fight against corruption by reporting any suspicious activities and holding accountable those involved in corrupt practices, including political figures and government officials.

The EFCC’s appeal for unity and support underscores the collective responsibility in the battle against corruption, emphasizing the importance of accountability and transparency at all levels of society.
