Renowned businesswoman and socialite Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu has been taken into custody by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC.

In a statement released on Tuesday, her legal team clarified that Achimugu, who entered the nation willingly from London, was taken into custody at approximately five in the morning.

According to reports, her attorney informed the Federal High Court in Abuja that she had previously promised in court filings to attend the EFCC today as part of the agency’s continuing investigation into a suspected criminal conspiracy and money laundering case.

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja directed Achimugu to appear before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, to address accusations about allegations related to an ongoing investigation.

The court also directed that she must be present before it on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, to continue proceedings in the matter.
