Dr. Obinna Nwachukwu, fnipr, has been celebrated for his remarkable service in both faith and media, earning two prestigious honors in a single week.

In recognition of his steadfast dedication to the church, Dr. Nwachukwu was awarded the Excellent Stewardship Award by the Anglican Diocese of Mbaise. The honor, presented at St. Michael’s Church, Umunneorie, commends his commitment to the spiritual growth and infrastructural advancement of his local parish and the broader Anglican Communion in Nigeria.

This ecclesiastical accolade comes shortly after another milestone achievement: Dr. Nwachukwu’s formal induction into the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE). The high-profile ceremony took place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Government House Banquet Hall in Enugu. Former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, officiated the induction, personally decorating Dr. Nwachukwu in the presence of key dignitaries including Enugu State Governor, HE Barr. Peter Mbah, veteran journalist Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, and Vanguard Publisher, Sam Amuka.

The NGE event was formally opened by Governor Mbah and featured a keynote address by the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS). In his goodwill message, Chief Osoba praised the inductees for their professionalism and integrity, highlighting Dr. Nwachukwu’s influential role in national discourse and editorial leadership.

Reflecting on the recognition from the Diocese of Mbaise, Dr. Nwachukwu expressed deep gratitude. “To the glory of God, I am humbled and honored by this award from the Lord Bishop and members of the Diocese,” he said. “It affirms my modest efforts in nurturing both the physical and spiritual development of our church community.”

A seasoned journalist and devoted community leader, Dr. Nwachukwu continues to navigate the intersection of faith and media with purpose and conviction. His recent honors underscore his lasting contributions to both national journalism and the spiritual well-being of his local congregation.

The NGE also used the occasion to conduct its general elections, returning Eze Anaba, Editor of Vanguard, for a second term as President.

Dr. Nwachukwu’s dual recognitions are a testament to his exceptional leadership, unwavering faith, and lifelong dedication to service—both in the newsroom and in the sanctuary.
