Former Governor of Ekiti State and ex-Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Paul Omotoso.

In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by the head of his media office, Ahmad Sajoh, Fayemi lauded Omotoso as a committed leader, unifier, and pivotal figure within the party in the state. The former governor emphasized the significant void left by the unexpected departure of the party chairman, describing it as a loss felt not only within the APC family but also among all those acquainted with the departed leader.

Fayemi praised Omotoso’s dedication as a leader and unwavering advocate of the APC’s principles and agenda in Ekiti State. Under Omotoso’s leadership, the party achieved notable victories in recent elections, earning the trust of the people. Fayemi acknowledged that such successes were possible due to Omotoso’s commitment to uniting party members and working selflessly for the greater good of the state and the nation.

The late Omotoso had held various positions within the party, serving as secretary and chairman of the APC. He had also previously been the Commissioner for Local Government and Environment during Fayemi’s first term as governor from 2010 to 2014.

Reflecting on Omotoso’s contributions and sacrifices for the party, Fayemi remarked that the late chairman was a man of integrity who led by example, inspiring party faithful with his passion for service and dedication. Despite challenges, Omotoso’s leadership kept the party united and focused on its mission.

In his message, Fayemi stated, “Ekiti State and the APC have lost a pillar, a grassroots mobilizer, and a committed leader. We mourn this devastating loss, but we take solace in the lasting legacy and sterling example he leaves behind.”

Fayemi extended heartfelt condolences to the Ekiti State chapter of the APC, the family and associates of the late Chairman, and the people of Ekiti. He urged all members and supporters of the party to remain strong and united in honoring the memory of their late chairman.
