Don recommends Okpebholo’s model to resolving security crisis in Nigeria

    Published on

A public affairs analyst, Dr. Lemmy Ughegbe, has called for the adoption of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s approach to resolving security crises across the country, citing the Edo governor’s handling of the recent Uromi incident as a model for others to follow.

Speaking on Politics Today, anchored by Seun Okinbaloye, Dr. Ughegbe noted that, ordinarily, a reprisal attack was expected following the unfortunate incident that claimed several lives in Uromi. However, he said Governor Okpebholo’s swift and measured response prevented further escalation.

According to him, rather than grandstanding, Governor Okpebholo immediately visited the Kano State Government and the families of the deceased to broker peace and douse tensions.

Dr. Ughegbe, who was contributing to the discussion on solutions to security challenges in the country, particularly the recent killings in Plateau State, urged other leaders to adopt the Okpebholo model, which he described as proactive and peace-driven.
