    Diabetic patients plead with FG to include them in NHIS programne.

    In Nigeria, investigation has revealed that the rate of diabetes patients is increasing where over ten million Nigerians are suffering from diabetic and about 537 million people are suffering from diabetic scourge worldwide.

    A cross sections of diabetic patients made the appeal during the occasion to mark world diabetic week celebration held at Ahmadu Bello university Teaching Hospital shika Zaria has pleaded with Federal government to include diabetic patients in the national Health insurance scheme programme.

    The diabetic patients stressed the need for the federal and state government to make adequate arrangement to include diabetes patients in their health insurance programs to alleviate their suffering.

    They noted that diabetic patients are at higher risks to lost their lives than HIV Aid, tubaclosis, among other.

    The diabetic patients called on all stakeholders in the health sector to intensify efforts to reduced their suffering .

    in an interview professor Fatima Bello of Ahmadu Bello university teaching hospital shika Zaria said if the federal and state governments make provision for diabetes patients in their health insurance programs it will reduce the number of deaths among them.

    Professor Fatima Bello advised diabetes patients to imbibed the habit of visiting health facilities and maintain their routine medical check up.

    she called on the diabetic patients to cultivate the habit of constant exercise and take their daily meals with selected fruits and vegetables while taking their food items .

    One of the patients Alhaji KABIR Usman funtuwa called on government and philanthropist to take steps to reduce the prices of diabetes drugs across the country .

    Alhaji KABIR Usman funtuwa added that each diabetic patient spend over twenty thousand naira every month .
