The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta North Senatorial District has formally declared its unwavering support for the creation of Anioma State, proposed as the sixth state in Nigeria’s South-East geopolitical zone.
In a letter dated November 3, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of the Senate Sub-Committee on State Creation, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno, Delta North APC Zonal Chairman, Chief Adizue Eluaka, affirmed that Anioma is “ready for statehood.”
Chief Eluaka said the people of Delta North are united in their demand, describing it as a matter of fairness, equity, and strategic balance within Nigeria’s federal structure.
“The APC Delta North Senatorial District is fully and unequivocally in support of the creation of Anioma State. Its realization stands as both a matter of justice and a strategic advantage for the federation,” he wrote.
He praised Senator Ned Nwoko for sponsoring the Anioma State Creation Bill, noting that it seeks to address the imbalance that leaves the South-East with only five states, unlike other zones with six or more.
Eluaka added that Anioma’s proposal was the most comprehensive among those before the National Assembly and would help correct long-standing inequities, strengthen political representation, and foster national unity.
“The creation of Anioma as the sixth state of the South-East will reinforce Nigeria’s political stability and cohesion. It is both an act of justice and a reaffirmation of the Senate’s responsiveness to the aspirations of the Nigerian people,” he said.
