Ahead today’s planned defection of the Enugu state governor, Peter Mbah from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the state caretaker Committee has dissolved all ward executives in the state
The newly inaugurated Caretaker Chairman of the party, Ben Nwoye, announced the dissolution during a stakeholders’ meeting for the Enugu West Senatorial District.
According to him, the decision followed a directive from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) after extensive consultations with key stakeholders at both the national and state levels.
“This dissolution is not a punishment; rather, it is a strategic move to rebuild the APC in Enugu State from the ground up. We want a party structure that truly represents the interests of our members — one that will be inclusive, transparent, and accountable,” Nwoye said.
Meanwhile some members of the Enugu State Executive Council, have kick started the defection process on Monday, as they drummed support for Gov Peter Mbah ahead of his planned defection to the All Progressives Congress today.
This was contained in a video shared online by the governor’s Senior Special Adviser on Mainstream Media, Dan Nwomeh.
Nwomeh wrote, “Government House has realigned and connected to the centre. APC! Progress! Tomorrow is here!”
Some cabinet members seen in the video included the Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Engr Lawrence Ezeh; the Chairman of the Science, Technical, and Vocational Schools Management Board, Dr Amaka Ngene; and the Commissioner for Labour and Employment, Dr Felix Nnamani.
