Dangote Refinery Exposes DAPPMAN’s N1.5trn Subsidy Demand

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has disclosed that the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) demanded an annual subsidy of N1.505 trillion to enable members to match the refinery’s gantry prices at their own depots.

The refinery stated that despite offering petroleum products to marketers at its gantry price, DAPPMAN insists on taking delivery via coastal logistics, which would add N75 per litre in extra costs.

The refinery refused to comply with DAPPMAN’s subsidy request, stating that it has no intention of increasing its gantry price to accommodate such demands or paying a subsidy of over N1.5 trillion.

Dangote Refinery emphasized that marketers are welcome to lift products directly from its gantry and benefit from its logistics-free initiative.

The refinery alleged that its refusal to comply with DAPPMAN’s subsidy request is the core reason behind recent public criticisms and attacks.

It also accused marketers of dumping, stating that while the refinery exported 3,229,881 metric tonnes of petroleum products between June and September, marketers imported 3,687,828 metric tonnes over the same period.

Dangote Refinery reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and contributing to national development.

The refinery stated that it remains open to partnerships with patriotic and responsible stakeholders and is prepared to defend its position through all legitimate means.

The refinery dared DAPPMAN to seek redress through appropriate legal channels, stating that it would not be swayed by threats or ultimatums.

The company emphasized its commitment to the progress and well-being of Nigeria and its readiness to hold institutions accountable where necessary.
