A clash of interest may be brewing in the Kogi West Senatorial district as the State Security adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara and the Senator representing Kogi West in the National assembly,Senator Seven Sunday Karimi engaged in war of words against each other.
Commander Omodara while speaking with Newsmen in Lokoja on the sideline of a One-Day Workshop for women with the theme “Building Trust for a Renewed Hope” organized by his office in collaboration with Kogi Women Empowerment Coalition (KWEC)had cautioned has cautioned the Lawmaker representing Kogi West, Senator Sunday Karimi to face his legislative business and stop destabilizing the existing peace in the State.
According to him, “the recent comments of the Senator is capable of instigating violence in Kogi West, describing his position as self centered that does not represent the interest of the District”.
“At no time did the Senator call a town Hall meeting where he was asked to speak on power shift on behalf of the Kogi West Constituents.”
The Security Adviser advised the Senator Karimi to desist from causing division in Kogi West as the people are more enlightened and know what is best for them.
However,in a swift reaction immediately after the warning a group under the aegis of The “Kogi West Concerned Group” cautioned the State Security Adviser, retired Commander Jerry Omodara to “tread with caution, urging him to face his assignment of ensuring security, an area he has failed woefully”.
According to Prof. Daniel Bonire, Spokesperson of the Concerned group, said that “the era of trading the interest of our people for crumbs is long gone” insisting on fairness, justice and equity.
The Concerned Group noted that the remarks by Senator Karimi “agitating for the Governorship of the State by Kogi West is an idea who’s time has come, and spoke the minds of the people.”
The Concerned group lamented that rather than justify the huge allocation to security under the Special Adviser was more concerned about his selfish and personal interest as people have resorted to relocating from their abode for fear of attack which the State Security Adviser has no idea and solution to
The Concerned group described Senator Karimi as, “focused, courageous and unafraid, and not a whimpering betrayer”.
He said there are “happy slaves” in the present governance scheme in Kogi State who have been in office for one decade now, without impacting their people.
According to him: “Our people know them. They have sold their souls to the devil, they are content with being perpetuated in office, buying houses in Abuja, without a care about the wellbeing and future of the disenfranchised people of Kogi West.”
The Concerned Group wondered how the State Security Adviser will forget in a hurry his words of Commendation during the Inauguration of the Multi-million Naira forward security Base built by Sen. Karimi recently.
The group urged him to come to terms with reality as 2027 and Kogi West desire to be Governor after 34 years of State Creation would not be sacrificed on the alter of selfish interests and appointment held by some few traitors in the quest for PowerShift.
While pointing out that the people of Kogi West are appreciative and satisfied with the quality representation of Sen. Karimi, lauded his accomplishments that has dwarfed past representation.
The Concerned Group described Justice, equity and fairness as the panacea for peaceful coexistence.
