An Estate Surveyor, Christian Omoru has urged the Federal Government to always involve the professionals especially Estate Surveyors and Valuers in her compulsory acquisitions and compensation exercises on roads and other projects in the country.

Omoru who made the call in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Warri, said that the development would boost the confidence of the public in the acquisition and compensation processes of the government

The estate surveyor said that the lingering controversy surrounding the Lagos-Calaba coastal road would have been avoided if professional estate surveyor and valuers were consulted during the acquisition process.

He said compulsory land acquisition for projects by the Federal Government required the services of professional estate surveyors for a smooth execution.

According to him, the estate surveyors discharged their duties without fear or favour.

“Government at all levels must be upright and transparent to make known the processes for compulsory acquisition of projects.

“And government should not deviate from the purpose for such acquisition.

“The controversy surrounding the Lagos- Calaba coastal road would have been avoided if professional Estate Surveyor and valuers were consulted during the acquisition process,” Omoru said.

    He, however, condemned the
assumption by politicians using Military Fiat to dispense compensation on compulsory land acquisition matter.

“This practice is unacceptable and unprofessional,” he concluded.
