In a candid interview, a pair of 19-year-old conjoined twins have revealed the unique challenges they face when it comes to their sex lives. The twins, who go by the names Mia and Lia for privacy reasons, shared that they are connected at the abdomen and share the same vagina, but one identifies as a lesbian
while the other is straight.

The sisters explained that they have decided not to engage in any sexual activity, including masturbation, as it is too “uncomfortable” for them. “With masturbation, it wasn’t that it felt
like incest, it was more like: imagine this. Imagine someone touching your shoulder, incessantly. It would be pretty annoying and weird right? That’s what it’s like if Lia touches our vagina, it feels like someone messing around with your body” Mia said in an online Q&A.

Despite having sexual urges, the twins have agreed that they will not have sex, as the risk of pregnancy is too high and could be life- threatening for them. “If we got pregnant there’s a good chance we would die” Mia explained.

Instead, the twins plan to be intimnate with their partners in other ways, such as kissing, hugging, and cuddling. Mia revealed that she had a girlfriend in the past, but they split up when she went to university. Lia, on the other hand, has had a long-distance boyfriend during their teenage years.

The sisters’ openness about their unique
situation comes after it was revealed that another set of conjoined twins, Abby Hensel and Brittany Hensel, had secretly tied the knot in 2021. Mia and Lia wanted to share their story to provide insight into the complexities of navigating sex and relationships as conjoined twins.

“Other conjoined twins, ie Abby and Brittany, may have more intimate interactions or less, normally yes sex alongside your sibling is weird being a conjoined twin is a completely
different experience. What works for them is good, Mia said.
