CNG-powered vehicles exceed 100,000 in one year – PCNGI

    Published on

Within one year, the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI) has said its CNG- powered vehicles have exceeded 100,000, and also recorded over 300 conversion centres.

This was contained in a rebuttal the PCNGI issued on what it described as a “misleading report published by” an online medium, (not New National Star).

The Brand & Corporate Communications Manager, Matilda Johnson, said: “Today, over 100,000 CNG vehicles are operational across Nigeria — a fivefold increase in just one year.”

The rejoinder noted that the online most recent article falsely claims that PCNGI pulled the list of approved conversion centers from its website to conceal information.

PCNGI, however, said that the website is undergoing scheduled updates to reflect a larger, more inclusive list of newly approved conversion centers, in line with the company transparency standards.

Meanwhile, the rejoinder added that the recent landmark deployment by Dangote Group, featuring 4,000 CNG-powered trucks, 100 virtual pipeline vehicles, and multiple daughter stations, is just one high-profile testament to the Initiative’s impact.

It also said its partnership with local MSMEs has led to the rise of over 300 conversion centers, from just seven at inception, with an average of 20 new centres opening weekly.

Explaining further, PCNGI said since its launch, the PCNGI has facilitated over $800 million in private and public investments, created more than 100,000 direct and indirect jobs, and significantly accelerated the adoption of cleaner, cheaper energy alternatives.
