The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, has praised the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for its efforts in promoting awareness and knowledge of Information Communications Technologies (ICT) in Nigeria. Speaking at the annual workshop for judges on telecommunications issues, the CJN commended the NCC for its dedication to ensuring that the judiciary and the Nigerian public are well-informed about ICT. He emphasized the importance of embracing technology in the delivery of court services and highlighted the theme of the workshop, which focuses on the adjudication path in the digital era. The CJN also mentioned the ongoing review of the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) 2003 to update its provisions. The workshop aims to address the challenges faced by the judiciary in the digital revolution and equip judges with the necessary information to navigate the digital era. The Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, expressed gratitude to the CJN and other judges for attending the workshop and highlighted the importance of adopting digital technologies in advancing the course of justice. He emphasized the need for a safe and effective backbone infrastructure and an efficient adjudicatory mechanism in the digital space to instill societal confidence in the digital economy. The NCC and the Nigerian Judiciary Institute (NJI) have been partnering to develop capacity for judges in the digital era.
