    Published on

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has announced its guidelines for candidate nominations for the upcoming Local Government elections.

This development follows the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) announcement of the election timetable, which is set for October 5.

The guidelines, released on Monday and signed by Hon. Oryina Orvaa, the Caretaker Committee Publicity Secretary, outline the process for screening and primaries.

According to Orvaa, the screening for councillorship candidates will take place on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at different locations:

    – Aspirants from Zone A will be screened at London Galaxy Hotel in Adikpo starting at 10:00 am.
    – Candidates from Zone B will be screened at the PDP State Secretariat in Makurdi, also beginning at 10:00 am.
    – Those from Zone C will have their screening at Leach Hotel in Otukpo, promptly starting at 10:00 am.

Chairmanship aspirants who have submitted their expression of interest and nomination forms will be screened at the party headquarters in Makurdi on the same day.

Primaries for councillorship positions are scheduled for Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the respective council ward headquarters, while chairmanship primaries will occur at the local government area headquarters on the same day.

Any appeals related to the screening and primaries will be addressed on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the party headquarters in Makurdi.

Aspirants are required to submit completed forms along with their tax clearance certificates, party membership and voter cards, photocopies of nomination and expression of interest forms, proof of handling charge payment, and academic qualifications during the screening process.
