FC Barcelona is taking another step forward in its commitment to diversity and inclusion with the introduction of new inclusive mannequins in its stores. These mannequins aim to reflect the diversity of our society by representing a wide range of body types, abilities, and disabilities.
Traditionally, mannequins have portrayed an idealized standard of beauty, often excluding individuals who did not fit this narrow mold. FC Barcelona seeks to challenge these stereotypes and promote the idea that sports are for everyone, regardless of their physical condition.
Visitors to the Barça Stores at Spotify Camp Nou, Passeig de Gracia, Canaletas, La Maquinista, and Madrid will now encounter fully integrated mannequins featuring wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs, prescription sports glasses, cochlear implants, and larger body sizes.
This initiative, spearheaded by the FC Barcelona Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department in collaboration with the Barça Identity and BLM areas, aims to authentically represent the diverse makeup of society. The goal is to ensure that more individuals feel included and to convey the message that sportswear and fashion are accessible to everyone.
This move towards inclusivity is not merely a one-time effort; inclusive mannequins will become a permanent fixture in all Barça Stores, reflecting the club’s ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion.
FC Barcelona is also marking European Diversity Month, a continent-wide initiative held every May to promote awareness of diversity and inclusion in workplaces and society. Throughout the month, FC Barcelona intensifies its efforts to promote inclusive communication, recognize individual differences, and enhance accessibility, in line with its year-round commitment to diversity and inclusion.
