Renewed hostilities by suspected Fulani herders claim three lives in Benue

No fewer than three persons were reportedly killed yesterday by Fulani herders in Benue State.

New National Star checks learnt the incident occurred near Anyiin in Logo Local Government Area of the state.

An eyewitness recounted that suspected Fulani bandits resurfaced at about 11:30 pm, when the natives were asleep, shooting sporadically and burning houses, which resulted in the death of a woman and two old men.

“It is an unprovoked attack where they also wreaked havoc, mayhem which led to devastating,” the source said.

When contacted on the development, the Council Chairman, Hon. Benjamin Uzenda, acknowledged the incident.

The Logo Council boss lamented that peace was being restored and the tragedy erupted again.

“We are collaborating efforts with the relevant agencies to ensure the menace is curtailed. We sympathise with the beloved ones over the sudden demise,” he said.

Attempts to obtain clarification with the Benue Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Udeme Edet, were futile as she did not pick our calls nor return them after several attempts.
