    Attack on Governor Buni’s Convoy Claims Policeman’s Life, Leaves Others Injured

    In a tragic incident along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway on Saturday, suspected Boko Haram insurgents ambushed Governor Mai Mala Buni’s convoy. The attack resulted in the death of a policeman, Corporal Maina Mohammed, attached to the ‘Operation Haba Maza’ security outfit.

    The confirmation of the casualty came from Mamman Mohammed, the Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, in a statement issued on Sunday in Damaturu. Governor Buni expressed deep condolences to the Nigeria Police Force and the family of the deceased, describing Corporal Mohammed’s death as tragic and unfortunate.

    The convoy, returning to Damaturu from Maiduguri after attending the University of Maiduguri’s Convocation ceremony, encountered the ambush near Benishiek in Borno State. Governor Buni, saddened by the incident, offered prayers for the repose of the deceased policeman’s soul and a speedy recovery for those injured.

    Governor Buni instructed the Specialist Hospital Damaturu to provide comprehensive medical services to the injured security personnel. Additionally, he directed the secretary to the state government to initiate support measures for the family of the deceased policeman.
