Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has decided to challenge the Presidential Election Petition Court’s (PEPC) ruling that affirmed President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 election by taking the case to the Supreme Court. Atiku expressed deep dissatisfaction with the PEPC judgment, asserting that he received a verdict but not justice. His legal team, led by Chief Chris Uche, SAN, underlined the significance of safeguarding the country’s Constitution, the rule of law, and the principles of democracy. They are determined to request the case records and expedite their appeal process to the Supreme Court, where they hope to reevaluate various legal aspects of the case.

This move by Atiku signifies his unwavering commitment to pursuing legal avenues to address perceived irregularities in the election process, ensuring transparency, accountability, and the integrity of Nigeria’s democracy. It also underscores the importance of the judiciary in upholding the rule of law and serving as the ultimate arbiter in electoral disputes, shaping the course of the nation’s democratic processes. Atiku’s decision to approach the Supreme Court reflects his resolve to exhaust all available legal options in the pursuit of what he believes to be a just and fair outcome, highlighting the enduring nature of his electoral challenge.
