Arsenal’s Partey makes decision after Barcelona approach

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has reportedly ruled out a summer exit, expressing a strong desire to remain at the club and sign a contract extension before his current deal expires.

The 31-year-old Ghanaian international, whose contract with the Gunners is set to expire on July 1, has informed the club of his willingness to reject lucrative offers from elsewhere, including interest from Barcelona and former club Atlético Madrid.

Partey, who joined Arsenal from Atlético Madrid in 2020, has endured an injury-hit season but remains a valued member of Mikel Arteta’s squad. The Arsenal manager is said to be eager for the midfielder to extend his stay at the Emirates.

According to the Evening Standard, Partey is pushing to finalize a new deal before Arsenal’s final Premier League fixture of the season against Southampton on May 25. Despite becoming eligible for a free transfer in the summer, he appears committed to continuing his career in North London.

Contract talks between Partey and the club have been ongoing for several months, and both sides now seem aligned on reaching an agreement soon.
