Troops from the three Battalion have unearthed an operational illegal refining site within Enokora Community, situated in the Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State. The site was found to contain three cooking ovens and six reservoirs used for illicit oil refining, along with the discovery of concerning items in the vicinity.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwarchkwu, issued a statement regarding the clampdown, stating that investigations are underway to ensure that those involved in these activities face legal consequences.

In a related development, DSP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, reported that troops from the 3 Battalion had cracked down on an active illegal oil refining site in Enokora Community. They discovered three cooking ovens and six reservoirs during their anti-oil theft operations on August 29, 2023. Additionally, they intercepted a wooden boat loaded with 110 sacks of illegally refined AGO (Automotive Gas Oil) and two vehicles carrying 18 sacks of the same substance in the same area.

Furthermore, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest of sixteen suspected kidnappers in Ughelli North on Thursday. These arrests were made as a result of intelligence gathered by the police. The suspects were apprehended in their operational hideouts, and they confessed to various criminal activities, including the kidnapping of high-profile individuals. The suspects are currently detained at the Police headquarters in Asaba, where the police also seized charms, firearms, and an unspecified amount of money. Three of their victims were safely released.

In a separate development, there was jubilation in Aniocha Ugbo, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, as His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi Obi Victor Chukwumalieze 1 of Onicha Ugbo, along with members of the Council of Chiefs and subjects, celebrated a legal victory in a suit against the traditional ruler, the Obi in Council, and three other individuals filed by one Obodoechie Nwokolo. The lawsuit challenged the plaintiff’s removal as the Head of Ogbe Obi title holders and the stripping of his Ozo title. The Aniocha North District Court, Onicha Ugbo, chaired by Mrs. Onichabor, ruled that the case lacked merit and struck it out. The court found that the case had not been properly filed and that the plaintiff’s counsel, Nnamdi Ogbechi Sulieman, was not a recognized legal practitioner. The court’s decision was supported by two members of the Court, and it was determined that the case had not followed the correct legal procedures.
