At the 12th National Executive Council meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu stressed the importance of shifting focus from winning elections to effective governance and service delivery for the Nigerian people.

Having secured victories in the presidency and other elective offices, Tinubu urged the APC leadership, especially elected officials, to be dedicated to good governance. He emphasized that this commitment would lead to the transformation of the nation’s economic and political landscape, addressing the needs of the poor.

In his first address to the NEC since his election victory, Tinubu emphasized that winning the election was just the beginning of a longer progressive journey. He highlighted that responsive and accountable governance presented a separate challenge that demands continuous efforts.

Tinubu expressed the administration’s determination to remove fuel subsidies and direct the resources towards satisfying the needs of the less privileged in a restructured economy.

The President called for unity, stability, and camaraderie among party members, urging them to nurture the party from the grassroots level. He also urged the party to focus on development and prosperity for the nation.

Tinubu assured Nigerians of the government’s commitment to building international trade partnerships that would benefit the country’s economy and the people.

Defending the legitimacy of the 2023 election, Tinubu reiterated that those who cannot accept the outcome of a free and fair election do not deserve the joy of victory.

Acting National Chairman, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, acknowledged the challenges faced by the APC as the majority party at both the sub-national level and in the National Assembly. He praised the party’s achievements over the past ten years and congratulated the President and elected party members on their recent victories.

Kyari pledged the party’s unwavering support to President Tinubu, regardless of the complexities of future challenges. The APC intends to stand by the President and continue working towards the growth and development of Nigeria.
