An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Enugu State, Ambassador Ejike Eze, has urged the state government to immortalise late Senator Okey Ezea, who represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the 10th Senate before his death on November 18, 2025.
Eze, a retired career diplomat and former assistant to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo on Protocols and Security, made the call on Tuesday in Nsukka.
He said Ezea died while actively serving the people of Enugu North and the nation.
“The Enugu State Government should find a befitting way to immortalise a Senator who died while serving his fatherland,” he said.
He commended Governor Peter Mbah for approving a state burial for the late lawmaker.
On succession, Eze urged politicians to suspend discussions on replacement until after Ezea’s burial.
“For now, it is improper to discuss replacement. After the burial, party stakeholders can begin consultations,” he said.
Eze added that the responsibility would rest with the governor and party leadership to determine the APC’s candidate for the by-election.
