Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has assured members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the party remains cohesive and focused despite growing speculation surrounding a possible tenure extension for its executive committees nationwide.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Oguwuike Nwachuku, Uzodimma said the ruling party would continue to uphold the collective interests and aspirations of Nigerians at both state and national levels.
Addressing concerns about the tenure of current executives, the governor stated that the matter would be deliberated upon collectively and at the appropriate time.
“As a responsible and responsive party, we believe in mutual dialogue. This issue will be deliberated on appropriately. Be rest assured, when we get to the bridge, we will cross it,” he said.
Uzodimma reiterated that the APC functions as a united political family that makes decisions guided by consultation and consensus for the overall good of its members and the nation.
He stressed that the fate of the incumbent executives would not be determined by speculation but through due consultation within the party hierarchy.
His comments come amid reports suggesting that the APC leadership is considering extending the tenure of the National Working Committee (NWC) and other executive organs beyond 2027, a development that has reportedly caused unease among some governors and stakeholders.
