The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has assured Nigerians of a peaceful and well-coordinated governorship election in Anambra State this weekend, with 5,224 officers deployed across 5,178 polling units.

Egbetokun, represented by Commissioner of Police Umar Hadejia, gave the assurance during the unveiling of the CLEEN Foundation’s 2025 Governorship Election Security Threat Assessment (STA) in Anambra.

He said the police had developed an “Operation Order” detailing the deployment of human and material resources to ensure safety across polling units, collation centres, and local government headquarters.

Meanwhile, the CLEEN Foundation has urged security operatives to exercise restraint and adhere strictly to legal standards governing the use of firearms.

Programme Officer, Dr. Salaudeen Hashim, said, “Security personnel must operate within the law. Force Order 237 clearly outlines when and how force may be applied. Any officer who misuses firearms will be held accountable.”
