Alleged murder: Court remands Adamawa philanthropist, others in prison

    Published on

A Magistrate Court sitting in Yola has remanded a philanthropist and president of the Emnanu Foundation, Emmanuel Musa, and three others in Yola prison over the alleged murder of a youth leader, Thomas Godwin, alias Zamfara, in the state.

The Chief Magistrate, Justice Uwani Danladi Mohammed, ordered that the defendants be remanded in prison custody pending legal advice from the DPP, Ministry of Justice, Adamawa State.

Other defendants in the matter are Godwin Chukukuyada, Danlami Nuhu, and Ibrahim Bakari (aka Mai Cross), while one, Stephen Peter, is said to be at large.

They were charged with the offences of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide, contrary to Sections 60 and 191 of the Adamawa State Penal Code 2018 as amended.

In the First Information Report (FIR) tendered in court, the defendants allegedly attacked the late Thomas Godwin (Zamfara) while he was returning from Fadama Rake to Kala’a, his hometown, on April 15, 2025.

The prosecution claimed the deceased was left unconscious by the roadside and was later rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

It further alleged that it was Emmanuel Musa who instigated and sponsored the attack.

Counsel to the prosecution, Ezekiel Gidauna Esq., applied for the substitution of the FIR dated May 19, 2025, with a revised one dated July 4, 2025.

The matter has been adjourned to Monday, July 7, 2025, for hearing.
