Ahead of the Christmas celebration, Akwa Ibom workers have started receiving their 13th-month salary to enable them prepare for the festive season.

According to a report from the Office of the Accountant-General, the payment began today, December 16, 2025.

This is in fulfilment of the promise made by Governor Umo Eno on Sunday that workers would receive their 13th-month salary before December 20.

Since the inception of the Umo Eno-led administration in 2023, Akwa Ibom State workers have consistently received the 13th-month salary, alongside other bonuses and welfare packages, earning the governor the reputation of a worker-friendly leader.

Observers say the regular payments reinforce the administration’s commitment to staff welfare and prioritising workers’ wellbeing across the state.
