AKSHA member condemns Pat Akpabio’s allegations against Senate President

Prince Ukpong Akpabio II, member representing Essien Udim State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, has denounced the recent allegations made by Pat Ibanga Akpabio against the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, describing them as “unfounded, malicious, and deeply regrettable.”

In a statement titled “Pat Ibanga Akpabio’s smear campaign against the Senate President: A handshake above the elbow,” Prince Akpabio expressed dismay at what he called a “public spectacle of falsehoods and social media theatrics” targeted at the Senate President and the wider Akpabio family.

“There comes a time in life when silence can no longer be golden. Sadly, this is one of such moments,” he said.

Prince Akpabio, who worked closely with the Senate President during his years in public service, dismissed allegations of murder and neglect as “baseless and borne out of bad faith.”

“Never has Godswill Akpabio orchestrated the death of anyone since his birth—let alone in politics,” he said. “Even in the face of fierce opposition, he has always chosen peace over violence. His leadership has been defined by performance, empowerment, and good governance.”

He also condemned the alleged verbal attack on the Senate President’s wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, calling it “a desecration of our cultural values and family respect.”

“It is an abomination to insult her in that manner. People must learn where to draw the line,” he added.

Prince Akpabio urged the public to disregard the allegations and called for restraint, maturity, and unity within the Akpabio family.

“Enough of the blackmail, enough of the character assassination, and enough of the unjust attack on a man’s reputation in the name of politics,” he stated.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Nsibiet John, commended Prince Akpabio for clarifying the issues and urged all parties to embrace peace for the sake of family unity and the state’s image.
