    Agba Tasks Inaugurated CMD Governing Board On National Development

    The Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba has tasked the newly inaugurated governing board of the Centre For Management and Development (CMD) to come up with policies that will improve productivity geared towards national development.

    The Minister stated this Thursday while inaugurating the board in Abuja.

    Agba stated, “you are thus enjoined to come up with innovative policies, programmes and projects which will support the mandate of CMD toward improved productivity for the managerial workforce and national development.

    He further stated the members of the constituted board meets all the criteria as specified by the Act establishing CMD.

    “The NCMD Board as constituted comprises of 13 members, which are: A Chairman, Mrs. Binta F. Shuaibu, and four other persons namely: Bar. Marie O. Idaomi, Prof. Muhammad A. Mainoma (mni), Mr. Olawole J. Ademola, and Mr. Bitrus D. Chinoko (DG CMD).

    “The seven institutional members representing critical stakeholders in management development are: representatives each of Ministry of Budget and National Planning; National Universities Commission; Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association; National Youth Service Corps; Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation; Industrial Training Fund; and the Central Bank of Nigeria.

    “I therefore have no doubt about your individual and collective ability to contribute significantly from your wealth of knowledge and experiences to promote management excellence in Nigeria.

    1. It is now my honour and privilege to inaugurate the Board of the Nigerian Council for Management Development (NCMD).

    Agba listed the terms of reference of the council to include:
    “to advice the minister on policies, plans and programmes for the enhancement of the number, quality and effective utilization of the managerial manpower resources of the country in all sectors of the economy, and to formulate policies and guidelines for coordination of management education and training activities. Other functions of the Council can be derived from the NCMD 2022 Act (as amended) which would be made available to you in due course”.

    He urged the governing board to discharge their duties as stated in the terms of reference and avoid unnecessary tussle for power with the management of the agency.

    “there is a need for a clear understanding as to the extent of your roles and responsibilities. You are required to provide policy guidelines for management development and not to be involved in the day to day running of the parastatal. The day to day operations of CMD is the responsibility of the Director General who is the accounting officer and Chief Executive Officer of the Centre”, Agba said.

    In her acceptance speech on behalf of the board, the Chairman, Mrs. Binta Shuaibu, thanked the President for approval to get the council constituted and pledged to work as a team with the available human and material resources for the actualisation of the goals of CMD.
